IMPLEMENTATION OF MEDITAG™ LABEL ON REGISTERED PHAMACEUTICAL AND HEALTHCARE PRODUCTS
The implementation of the security labeling using Meditag™ label has been announced by the Drug Control Authority, Ministry of Health Malaysia and I am sure that you have received the official notification by DCA via their letter Ref: Bil (32) dlm BPFK/02/5/I.3 dated 6 August 2004.
Mediharta Sdn Bhd has been authorized by the DCA of the Ministry of Health Malaysia to supply the registered importers and manufacturers with the Meditag™ labels in compliance to the above order of the DCA. Mediharta Sdn Bhd hopes to work very closely with registered members of the pharmaceutical industry to ensure the smooth implementation of this program. To achieve this objective, it is very important for the industry to fully understand the system of supply and distribution of Meditag™ that will ensure the requirements of the industry will be fulfilled.
The Meditag™ label has been approved by the DCA for the implementation of the program. It has many patented security features to protect the integrity of the label.
Comprehensive information on Meditag™ is available for you and your staff through our website: http://www.mediharta.com.my. One of the most important features available through the website is MTOS (Meditag™ Online Ordering System) that allows all registered importers and manufacturers to order Meditag™ online. MTOS is user friendly and is completed with features to help you manage your orders and payments. MTOS will be available from 1st October 2004. Training and user guides on how to use MTOS will be provided as well.
Each company is required to appoint its authorized officer to handle Meditag™ orders either by MTOS, Email, Post or Fax, whichever is most convenient. With each order, it must be specified whether the consignment need to be dispatched or self-collected. Additional costs for delivery and insurance coverage will be charged accordingly.
To fulfill your requirements of Meditag™, it is imperative that we be informed of your needs accurately so that we would be able to make provisions for you. Priority will be given to the companies which have registered their forecast requirements as we will set aside their needs accordingly. Therefore, please return your forecasts requirements of Meditag™ using the format attached, by 15 September 2004.
The DCA has decided the First Stage implementation is scheduled to be in effect from 1 January 2005 for non-injectable products. We have been given indication by some companies that they have early production schedule, to meet the DCA specifications on 1 January 2005. Mediharta therefore is fully geared for Meditag™ to be available for delivery from 1 November 2004.
For those who would like to apply Meditag™ voluntarily prior to this date, kindly submit your order to Mediharta using the attached Meditag™ Order Form. You may also contact us for more information.
We understand that some labeling machine will require calibration prior to actual application of any labels. Therefore, we have also available Calibration Rolls for this purpose to ensure no wastage of Meditag™ during calibration. Each Calibration Roll consists of 50 metres of 2,500 blank foil labels.
The security label program is a Government of Malaysia’s effort to strengthen enforcement measures and address the issue of unregistered pharmaceutical products which not only has become a public health hazard but also undermines the growth of responsible pharmaceutical industry of which you are a member. With this program, your clients will be able to only sell your products with the Meditag™ labels over similar counterfeit and unregistered products.
Malaysia hopes to become a regional center for health services with corresponding growth of health tourism. The pharmaceutical industry as the supporting role must attain the degree of integrity it needs to function effectively, by sidelining all unregistered products in the market. It is important for the industry to cooperate and support all efforts in this matter and ensure that the enforcement authorities be as effective as demanded by all parties.
Mediharta Sdn Bhd will work with DCA to create effective public awareness in the Meditag™ label program and we would also appreciate the support and cooperation of the industry in this area. 3. List of labeling machines compatible for Meditag™ label application
4. Meditag™ Requirement Form - registered importers or manufacturers are requested to complete this forecast form and return to Mediharta latest by 17 September 2004.
5. Meditag™ Order Form – to be submitted to Mediharta for purchase of Meditag™ and Calibration Rolls.
